Hold On, Love!

We're holding on to the last few days of this nice weather!
Word around town is that it's about to get pretty chilly in the next few days.
This is what I wore the other day, when the weather was the perfect kind of chilly.
I love this polka dot blouse for so many reasons...but mostly because it's so soft & silky.

Hat, blouse, scarf, skirt, shoes: Thrifted, bow ring: Little Somethings, won from Fancy Treehouse, coat: F21

Timothy & I are having a little date night tonight.
Dinner at our favorite burger place & maybe even a movie!
And one of my best friends is in town for the weekend, so we'll definitely see her for a bit.

Have a beautiful night!

Holiday Crafts & Giveaway Winner!

I hope you all had an incredible Thanksgiving. I sure did!
You really can't complain when you're surrounded by people you love, and who love you right back ;)

Now we've all got our minds set on Christmas!!
The madness has begun with those crazy Black Friday shoppers...
I'm not fully committed to this idea. I actually take wayyyy too long to shop.
I like to browse, compare, imagine how things would look on me/in my home.
So, taking me Black Friday shopping would be like taking your 89 year old grandmother, I'd imagine.
Recipe for disaster?
I think so ;)

Anyway! Here are my two favorite Christmas craft projects I've done so far:

Holiday Wreath.
DIY found on Carly Kmyta.
This was made with a wreath from Michaels, sparkly ornaments that cost .75 each, and coffee filters!

Mason Jar Holiday Scene.
This DIY can be found on Rhonna Designs.

So cute!
What kinds of Christmas crafts have you done this year?
I'm feeling extra festive this season, so please share if you have some good ones!!

Oh, and last but not least...
The Giveaway Winner!
Aaaaand, the winner is:

The adorable Mia Helen from Blessed Not Lucky!
Congrats! Please email me at twohappyheartsclub@yahoo.com so I can ship your prize to you :)
And thanks to everyone who entered.
I quite like doing giveaways...expect more during the holiday season!

Have a beautiful evening.
And Happy Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

Well, hello there! Just popping in to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of my lovely blogger friends.
I'm spending the day cooking with my family at my parents' house.
I'll admit that I've already taken a Thanksgiving nap (while the turkey was cooking, so it's fine!).
Dinner will be done soon, and we're all ready to indulge.
Anyway, I wanted to give you a little sneak-peak of some Christmas crafts I've been doing.
I'll be back to share where I found the wreath DIY and the mason jar snow globe DIY..so you can make your very own!
Oh, and I'll be announcing the giveaway winner tomorrow, so enter if you haven't already.

Eat up, friends!
And tell someone you're thankful for them ;)

Forever and A Day

Do you ever have those days when you feel like wearing lots & lots of color?
Well, this day was one of those days.
I wore this adorable blouse I bought from Red Velvet over the summer.
It was a bit too hot to wear in the hot summer months,
so it's become my perfect fall blouse!
And I kind of like that it's not the quintessential "fall" color.

Alright, enough chatter! Here's the outfit:

Blouse:Red Velvet, Dress: Macy's, Tights: UO, Boots: TJMaxx in Nashville, Hat: UO, Blazer: Thrifted, Bag: Aldo

Happy Thanksgiving eve!!
My sister & our husbands are cooking for our entire family this year!
Oh boy. Cross your fingers and hope it all turns out well ;)

I hope you all have a beautiful Thanksgiving!
Eat lots & be thankful for the ones you love.

ps. Enter my Etsy giveaway if you've got a chance. I'll pick a winner on Friday!

Coffee Date

Hello, friends!
I hope Friday is treating you well.
I'm so excited to have a day off to sew.
I'm doing the DIY Trunk Show in Chicago tomorrow, so I'm sewing like crazy for tomorrow!
But I'm popping in quickly to share an outfit I wore out to breakfast with Timothy.

Oh, and expect to be seeing a lot of this striped sweater..
I bought it from Brandy Melville in Santa Monica.
It's suuuuper soft & comfy....so yep. I think I'll be wearing it tons during fall!

[who doesn't love a super-fancy-inside-pocket!}

Oh, and my sweet husband surprised me with a beautiful Jo Totes camera bag for my bday!
What a guy ;)

Scarf, shoes, blazer, pants: Thrifted, Striped sweater: Brandy Melville, Camera bag: Jo Totes

Okie dokie, I'm off to get some work done.
Have a lovely day!

Christen Jean

ps. If you're in the Chicago area, stop by the DIY Trunk show tomorrow!
It's from 10-5 at the Broadway Armory Park [5917 North Broadway Street].

take time for joy

I've been thinking a lot about joy lately.
How it's easy to lose your sense of joy & appreciation for everyday life.
I know it happens to me sometimes! I get caught up in routines and schedules and lists and I lose sight of appreciating everyday life.
Today I made a point to slow down and find joy in little things.

Some "joyful" moments from today:
-driving with the windows & sunroof open and loving the fresh, cool breeze
-hugging some of my best friends
-laughing with my sister & husband
-taking a different route home from work
-wearing pretty colors that make me smile
-putting on lipstick
-drinking a different coffee than usual
-sewing up ornaments & being productive

Some photos from an oh-so-joyful day!
[side note: Tim & I were in fits of laughter while taking these. I can't even remember why...which is kinda the best sort of laughing fit...]

Sweater & Skirt: Thrifted, Poncho: ASOS (gift from my sis!), Bunny Necklace: Bam Bam Creative, Boots: TJ Maxx in Nashville, Tights: FP

I love days like these.
What are some ways you slow down & find joy in things?

ps. I think Tim & I are going on a lunch date now - to one of our favorite coffee shops! Wooot!
Yet another reason why today is amaaaazing!

love you(s),
Christen Jean

extra fancy

I was feeling a little extra fancy today,
so I put on this fun number I picked up from H&M in California.
It's such a pretty, delicate, 60s-inspired silhouette.
I couldn't pass it up!

I paired it with a black faux-fur collar I found hidden away in my closet.
Aren't clothing re-discoveries the best?!
I was pretty stoked with how perfect it looked with the dress.

Timothy & I snapped these photos while walking our pup, Casey.
The sun was shining bright...but don't let it fool you!
It was pretty chilly today.
And guess what?! We officially had our very first snow this afternoon!
And so it begins, I suppose ;)

Enough chatter though! Here is an extra fancy outfit for ya:

Dress: H&M, Collar: Thrifted (I think!), Tights: Vera Wang, Wedges: Aldo, Red Coat: F21

I had a beautiful day today.
I hope you did, as well.

ps. Tomorrow is 11-11-11! Go do something fun & make lots of wishes.
It's one of my best friend's 23rd birthday tomorrow..lucky gal. She'll be celebrating on one of the most magical days of the year.

november blue

I took these photos the other day while my husband Tim was at work.
With daylight savings time in full swing, he's been getting home after the sun goes down.
So I took it upon myself to try out some self-portraits.
I set up a tripod in my living room & played around with the pretty sunshine beaming through the windows.
Pretty fun!

And I tried out a pretty scarf tutorial I found from Hello, It's Valentine.

shirt: gift from my sis
skirt, scarft, belt & boots: thrifted

I love going out & having fun with outfit shots with Tim or my sister,
but this was fun too.
I think I'll try out some more self-done outfit shots this week.
Does anyone else do your own outfit shots?
Any good tips/tricks?

Have a beautiful Monday!

xo, Christen
